I really enjoyed this story! The suspense, and action was excellent. The touch of romance was sweet. I loved how inspiration, and faith was weaved throughout the story. It's nice to read a Christian based action / suspense story. The story is part of a series but reads as a standalone.
The story starts out with Lydia McKenzie talking with a friend at her local bistro. They heard a evil laugh, and everything went black. The bistro exploded from a bomb. The police has been working to find the bomber that has bombed a church, and other places. They call him the laughing bomber.

Jesse Hunt is a k-9 officer. He and his dog Brutus is called to the bistro to search for any survivors. He had dated Lydia when they were in high school. The two broke up years ago, and lost touch. He just found out she was back in town, and missing. His heart stopped when he found her, and was relieved when he found she was alive.

There was only 2 survivors from the bistro bombing. Lydia, and a waitress. Both are targets now. The suspense, was really good throughout the story. I never knew what was going to happen next. Loved this story!

The Protector Mission Alaskan Search and Rescue Margaret Daley 9780373677016 Books Reviews

I was hooked from the beginning. Intense, dramatic, intrigue, heart stopping, ... Love mysteries, and Margret Daily keeps the reader in suspense as if we are in the story itself. Can't wait to read another book. She and Coleen Coble, are the best!
I'm not sure why...maybe because the characters seemed so realistic. I've read several with similar themes and sometimes they begin to seem alike, but not this one. It moves along nicely, not too quick, except maybe the ending.
I've just watched a young bombing victim describe his experience. The Protector's Mission is a reminder that evil people perpetrate cruel deeds with no regard for the innocent people they harm, people they don't even know. Once again, it was hard to pick out the villain. Ms. Daley is a master mystery writer.
Lovely story - good mystery, good people ( a vet and a cop with a K-9 partner), a past relationship and a little sister who didn't always co-operate!

A couple of other dogs and couple of cats and some bugs!

Very entertaining.
I liked this book and really the added element of the dogs is a big plus as I find both military and police dogs a bonus in any story. It's an interesting partnership. I did figure out who the villain was in this book early, but I did feel the author tried very hard to keep you guessing.
This book was absolutely one that kept me on the edge of my seat practically from the beginning. It definitely brings back memories of those teen years, both good and bad. Definitely recommend it.
Lydia and Jesse have history. Lydia meets up with her friend, Bree, for lunch at the local Bistro. As she's coming out of the restroom, she hears a maniacal laugh and then a bomb goes off. Jesse's duty is to protect Lydia from the serial bomber. Will the find the bomber before Lydia is killed. Riveting.g
