*sigh*
This pains me to only give this book 2 stars. I really enjoyed the first book in the Ella and Micha series. And I enjoyed the very beginning of this book. But it slowly wore me down.
For starters, look at the cover. There is a diamond ring on the front. Way to ruin the whole ending.
And then we have all the drama. It was one thing after another. And normally I love the drama. But in this case it wasn't developed very well. Each event was resolved in a matter of pages. Then we were on to the next dilemma. It was just a series of unnecessary road bumps. And sometimes the solutions felt like the author was just making it up as she went along. For example, Ella and Micha had a fight over their thoughts and feelings. Some horrible comments were made. The next day it was decided that it was completely due to alcohol and not real thoughts. But to prove the point, Micha takes Ella to their "honesty tree" where they use to confess secrets to each other as a kid. How come they didn't go find that honesty tree in the last book??? It's awful convenient that this tree appears now.
I like it when a book weaves things together. A book shouldn't just be linear. There should be arrows allover the place. This book was definitely linear. Bumpy, but linear.
Once I got to 80%, I was starting to hope they would go their separate ways. Ella should have taken up the token guy's (you know, the one in every book that creates jealousy between relationships) offer for a date. I think the One Night Stand of Ella and Blake has a catchy ring to it.
I'm done.
Ella and Micha are trying to live their dreams, but it isn’t everything they thought it would be. Ella is dealing with hard family matters and dealing with her mental state of self-worth and depression. Micha is trying to help Ella while being far away with his band. Nothing seems to be working and when Ella hits a really low point in her life she decides she can’t be with Micha anymore until she can get herself together without him. That’s when Micha and Ella begin their relationship over and try to be friends, but they’re nothing without each other and they both want their forever.
Ella was not as likeable a character in this story to me as she was in the first book. I felt like she regressed a lot in this story since she seemed to be dealing a lot better in the first book than in the second. While I understand depression in depth I don’t think the book explained it well enough. Ella deals a lot with her depression and her family issues and her feelings for Micha and herself in this story. She has really low self-esteem and doesn’t feel like anyone should want to be with her since she has depression. I do like how that aspect of the book is so realistic and her relationship with Micha is as hot and romantic as ever. I think my favorite aspect about Ella in this story was the whole “finding herself” she did throughout the book that lead her to being with Micha and being alright with herself in the end.
Micha has always known what he wanted and that’s to play music and be with Ella. Both of those things become harder for Micha throughout the book and he has to re-evaluate how he deals with things and exactly what he wants.
If you read the first book you’ll want to read this book. However, this sequel is not even as close to as good as the first book so that’s a bummer. I enjoyed the story somewhat, but I felt the story wasn’t as well developed in some places; like Ella’s spiral down into depression.
Overall, The Forever of Ella and Micha was enjoyable. I laughed and overall enjoyed how and where the characters ended up.
After a rocky start and me being a little disinterested in the beginning, this book began to blossom into a good read.
<i>“That's because you loved me. You just didn't know it yet."</i>
First off, the chemistry between the two leads, Ella and Micha is palpable and it's like they had invisible strings that lead right back to each other and couldn't keep away. It really was interesting to read. (Plus those love scenes were hot hot hot!) I like that we got more into their back story as they reminisced about their childhood and how they were with each other.
At first the whole back and forth feelings that Ella was having were pissing me off, but it just kind of highlighted how good a guy Micha was and how nothing made him doubt in his mind that she was the one for him.
<i>“I cling to him like he's what keeps me thriving. Because he is.”</i>
I loved the closure that we got in regards to Ella's family and especially loved the side characters of Ethan and Lila. Very interested to see how they go in their own book.
What made me swoon entirely was the whole 'Proposition'. It was perfect for Ella and just showed how well Micha knew her and knew she had to make up her own mind in her own time. So sweet.
This is ultimately a tale of letting go of your own anxieties and opening yourself up to love and be loved. I really enjoyed it. One thing i have to say though, is that i thought it was wrapped up very well, yet i've read that there is going to be a third book about Ella and Micha? If that's true, i'm not sure what it could be about or if it's even necessary. I liked the way it concluded in this book.
(That being said, i'm sure i'll still read it!)
<b>“When his lips return to mine, it's not just about lust or desire - it's about making us whole.”</b>
This was an audio book for me. The "Valley Girl" accent made me giggle but fit the book personalities. Loved the break throughs for both Ella and Micha in this book! Will be reading the next in line hoping for the HEA.
