This is a book I shall re-read many times. It will be on my favorites list. The story begins with a woman leaving a new born with the nuns at an orphanage, in the darkness.
As a young adult, we learn of the Christian home and the loving couple who adopted her.
Also of the trials as she matured into adulthood. Her most difficult hurtle is to try to understand why she
was unwanted and therefore not good enough to be loved. When she tries to help others from
the orphan train, her story of faith, trust, love and devotion, learned from her parents,
takes us on a page turning story of growing, maturing, loving and of trust. Not only in
God's continuing plan for her, but of her trust in others.
I truly loved this book and so admire the author's writing. I have read the first two of this series
and will begin the fourth tomorrow. Thank you Lynnette Bonner.

Fair Valley Refuge The Shepherd Heart Book 3 edition by Lynnette Bonner Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
Rocky has already asked Victoria's Mother if he can court Victoria and has her consent. That very afternoon, Victoria is determined to meet the Orphan Train and Rocky finds himself escorting her to the train station in the next town. Things really get complicated. Victoria intends to get the three last orphans home with her as she knows she will find them a good, loving home.
Victoria will not be allowed to take the children as a single woman, so when she and Rocky leave the train station, they are a couple and they have three children. This is the setting for a wonderful story of love, strife, and happiness.
This book was simply AMAZING!!! This is the story of Rocky and Victoria, long time secret crushes. Victoria has a heart for children, and especially loves helping those on the Orphan train find homes. So, when she is unable to adopt the three remaining children from the train because she is single, let's just say she's desperate. When Rocky steps in and offers a marriage of convenience, for the children's sake, and Victoria accepts... things get crazy.
This is my favorite out of the quartet, and I would definitely recommend reading the others before this one. This is a wholesome Christian romance with wonderful tension and great themes. The characters really live out their faith, without getting preachy. Rocky is the best hero ever, I fell in love with him from the first page. D A really great and inspiring story of faith, love, and healing. This is a clean romance, though there are several kisses and some implied things between married couples. I would recommend this book for mature readers, 14+
From pulling braids, putting frogs in lunch boxes and slates broken over a knee to working together to keep two orphaned sisters from being separated, Victoria and Rocky have shared a lot in their lifetime. This story was amazing and kept my attention from the start. It moved along quickly and was entertaining. It was a very well written story with a few surprises and plenty of lessons learned. You can't go wrong reading this third book in "The Shepherd's Heart" series.
I love these books! This one is my favorite in the series, though. I especially love the wit and wisdom of Miz Hannah! My favorite character in a book for a long time....thank you! All your characters are amazing and the message of God's love is so clear throughout the book. Thank you again for another great read. On to the next one in the series!
It's been a while since I read this book, and I can't immediately recall everything that happened, but this is what happened. I read Book 1, and I couldn't stop. I think I stayed up to read Book 2, then proceeded to round out the series within a few days. Ms. Bonner, you're an inspired writer, and each of your characters stand on their own. I especially loved that both males and females were not made out to be saints and dealt with their desires, physical and otherwise, their frustrations, their fears, their burdens, and their responsibilities biblically and totally organically. I could see myself in each of your characters. God bless you and looking forward to more awesomeness from you. I will post this on all three books but believe me, I loved your books. Danke!
This book is part of a series. Book 1 is called Rocky Mountain Oasis and book 2 is called High Desert Haven.
This series follows members of the Jordan family and this one follows Rocky. He has loved Victoria for a long time but knows that his job as a lawman pushes her away. Her father was killed in the line of duty and now Victoria tries to ignore her feelings for Rocky. When Rocky takes her to the train station to check on the orphan train, one thing leads to another and he ends up married to her. Now he lives with a new wife and three children.
Victoria is determined to keep her heart safe. She feels that God doesn't care about her anymore or what happens to her. He seems to take away everyone she loves, so her solution is to guard her heart as much as she can from any hurt at all. When she marries Rocky to save the orphans on the train, she doesn't quite realize the path that she's started on. Rocky has taken his vows seriously and has no plans on ending the marriage.
Victoria has hidden the fact that she was adopted because she feels that people will look at her differently. As a child, she was told that there was something wrong with her and that was why she was abandoned. Not knowing the truth, Victoria eventually believes that it had to be true. It has clouded the way she views herself. She will have to make peace with her past before she can embrace her present and look forward to her future.
I enjoyed this book. The fourth book in the series is called Spring Meadow Sanctuary and tells the story of Cade and Sharyn. So far, this series has been well written and I believe that it would be okay if the books were read out of order. While the characters show up in other books, you won't feel like you're lost. I look forward to reading the final book in the series.
